HMRC were developing microservice platforms with an integration layer to communicate between components.
Our team mapped business processes/data flows:
-Working in the Discovery-phase with business to map the business flows as Sequence diagrams and creating features in the backlog.
-Producing user stories supporting identified flows, mapping interfaces, defining data standards and producing data mappings.
-Managing data and deployment information in Neo4j (Graph database) allowing matching of business flows to data items, enhancing traceability of data items and standards compliance.
Outcome: Design was well documented, enabling development and troubleshooting. Using Neo4j, data-flows were mapped to the business flows allowing design to be compared to deployment.
